Washington Hunting Details
Enjoy
Washington's most successful hunting areas for
Northwestern Whitetail Deer hunting, Merriam’s
Turkey hunting, color phase Bear hunting, and Shiras Moose hunting
Grouse hunting, and Cougar hunting. There's
also excellent hunting for Mule Deer, Bighorn Sheep, Coyote,
Waterfowl, and Elk, plus there’s plenty of great
fishing for Trout and Walleye in local
waters.
Bearpaw Outfitters offer
guided and unguided hunts from their Washington
hunting lodge. Hunt some of the best
private ranch hunting leases and mountain hotspots in
eastern Washington. Bearpaw Outfitters have
outfitted hunters for over 30 years in this area
so they know the best areas for hunting all the
various game species.
Location and Terrain
Based near Colville, a small town in Northeast
Washington close to Idaho and British Columbia,
Bearpaw Outfitters are located right in the
heart of Washington’s most productive game
country. This area is consistently the top producing
whitetail deer, bear, moose, cougar, turkey, and
grouse hunting area in the entire state. This is
simply great game country.
The terrain includes
forested rolling mountains and fertile valley
farmlands. There are good proportions of
evergreen forests, logging cuts, natural
openings, and croplands. This area is not as rugged as
most other western areas which makes it more
enjoyable for many hunters.
Hunting Methods
Hunters use
stands or blinds near game trails, alfalfa
fields, feeding areas, waterholes, and logging
cuts. Other effective methods include glassing,
spot & stalking, short brush drives, and driving
mountain logging roads.
Physical Condition
Your physical condition is not that important.
Anyone can enjoy a high degree of success
regardless of their physical condition because
the terrain is mild and the best hunting methods
for most species involve sitting and glassing.
Hunting Areas
Private Ranches: The hunting leases range in size up to 2500
acres and offer excellent hunting with
high success rates. These hunting
leases are perfect for hunters with the patience
to sit and watch feeding areas. Limited hunting
is allowed on each property in order to
maintain quality.
Mountain Hunts:
Numerous mountain locations offer some
of the best trophy hunting in Washington.
There's not as many animals per square mile in
the Mountains as on the Ranches, but the trophy
potential is some of the best in the northwest.
These Mountain
Hunts are ideal for hunters who like
to cover a lot of country when hunting.
The Outfitters
Dale was born and
raised in Northeast Washington and his wife Tara
has lived in Washington since childhood. In 1977 Dale started
guiding hunters and
since then Dale and Tara have slowly expanded
their outfitting business.
With 30 years of outfitting
experience in NE Washington, Dale, Tara, and
their family have endured the test of time. The
Denney Family and their crew of experienced
guides have outfitted hunters from around the
world, of all ages and backgrounds. Regardless
of your age or amount of hunting experience,
Dale & Tara have a hunt that’s just right for
you.
Guiding Options
Guided: Several guide ratios are offered that include accommodations,
guiding, and game care.
Semi-Guided: Hunt on your own, with
help in camp to advise hunting areas and assist
you with your game.
Unguided: Several unguided options are offered
with various accommodations,
hunting advice, and maps.
Accommodations
Lodge & Cabin: The facilities
are only 10 to 60 minutes from most
hunting areas and include meals in the dining room, pool table
in the den, indoor bathrooms, bunk beds in the cabins,
and a lighted game
cleaning area with water for cleanup. Groups of
up to 16 can be accommodated.
Motel “Town Hunts”:
Motels are only minutes from most of
the
hunting areas. Guided hunters are
picked up and returned to their room each day.
Unguided hunters must provide their own
transportation. Your room and meals are not included
so budget about $30 per day.
Licenses & Hunter Ed
Hunters of
any age can purchase hunting licenses over the
counter. Youth licenses are half price (even for
non-resident youth). First time hunters are
allowed a one time deferral from the Hunter Ed
requirements. All other hunters need Hunter Ed
if born after Jan 1, 1972.
Hunter Orange
Hunters must wear 400 square inches above the waist during rifle
deer, rifle elk, and Upland Bird
seasons.
