Bearpaw Outfitters have been
guiding and outfitting hunters for many species
including Bighorn Sheep for more than 30 years,
Bearpaw Outfitters know the best bighorn sheep
hotspots in several of the Sheep Units.
Bighorn Sheep hunting is a
once-in-a-lifetime hunting opportunity in both
Washington and Utah. Why not employ the services
of a professional guide experienced in hunting
sheep to insure your success. Bearpaw Outfitters
have had 100% success on past sheep hunts. Often
times 10 to 20 rams are spotted in a day of
hunting.
Best Time
Sheep hunting is only open
for short seasons. Bearpaw Outfitters is
confident they can get you on a good ram any
time the season is open.
Hunting Methods
Effective
sheep hunting methods include spotting and glassing
bedding areas and game trails leading to feeding
areas and waterholes and then stalking within
shooting range.
Shot Opportunity
Bearpaw Outfitters hunters have
had 100% success on past Sheep hunts. Shooting distances can vary from
50 to 250 yards, so sight rifles on zero at 200
yards.
Licenses
Hunters must apply for
limited entry sheep permits in Washington or in
Utah. The draw odds are slim so most hunters who
are serious about getting a sheep permit apply
in several states each year until they finally
draw somewhere. Washington will require Hunter
Ed if you were born after Jan 1, 1972 and Utah
will require Hunter Ed if you were born after
Jan 1, 1965.
Hunt Fee
Sheep hunts are
guided with 1 hunter per guide, and sometimes an
extra guide is used to help with spotting and
packing. Three days is generally enough time to
find a good ram, but hunters who want to make
the most of their tag may want to choose the
five day hunt to look for the best ram. You are
welcome to book the 3 day hunt and switch to a 5 day hunt if needed, provided
Bearpaw Outfitters schedule will allow the
extra time.
