Shot opportunity is normally 100%. Rifle shots are typically 100 to 300 yards so sight dead on at 200 yards. Bow hunters should practice from 20 to 60 yards from sitting, crouching, and standing positions.
Your guide in a 4x4 auto will pick you up at your motel and return you there after the hunt each day. The guide will field dress, pack out your animal, and deliver it to a processor and taxidermist if desired.

Hunts are based at motels near restaurants and shopping. Hunters pay for their choice of rooms and meals, guides pick up and return hunters to their room each day. Budget $100-$150 per day for these expanses.
Archery antelope hunting starts August 15 and runs into early November. Rifle season opens in early October and runs to early November. If you draw both tags, combo rifle hunts for pronghorn and deer are available in late October and early November.
Antelope tags are a draw with a June 1 application deadline. Hunter Ed is required if born after Jan 1, 1985. Bowhunter Ed or a previous archery license is required for bowhunting.

The best rifle method is glassing herds of pronghorn until the right buck is spotted, then plan a stalk to get within range for the shot. Archery hunting is done from blinds at waterholes or spotting & stalking in the right locations to get close for the shot.
Aug to Sep day temps are normally 70 to 100. Temps begin moderating in Sep and Oct with overnight frost or early snow possible. Late Oct to Nov can be moderate or cold. See the 10-Day Forecast before leaving.
Taxidermy and meat processing are available locally. Processing is usually done in one or two days or animals can be boned if you'd rather take them home to process yourself or take to your preferred butcher.

Montana antelope tags are awarded by draw with a June 1 application deadline. Apply before the deadline so you have time to plan your hunt and you don't have any last minute issues.
Draw odds vary by year and weapon. Our archery antelope hunters have historically drawn at or near 100%, but rifle draw success has gotten tougher in our area due to the high number of antelope and the high trophy potential, rifle hunters usually have to build points for several years. It's wise to begin applying a few years before you intend to hunt. Odds change a little each year, so please contact us if you'd like help understanding the draw for our hunt areas.
Shot opportunity is normally 100% on our guided ranch hunts. Most hunters take pronghorn bucks measuring 13 to 15.5 inches, with the occasional 16-inch-plus buck, and several record-class trophy bucks have been taken over the years.
Archery hunting is best early, from the August 15 opener through mid-September, when the weather is hot and bucks visit waterholes, and during the September rut. Rifle hunting is good throughout the season, and some of our largest bucks have even been taken in early November.
